I'm looking to get a motherboard and it has the ICH9R chipset on it. All I see mentioned is Raid 0, 1, 5, 10 for this chipset but I don't want to run a raid setup. I just want to plug in 4 or 5 SATA disks and have them completely independent. I assume I can do this but I see no mention of running things like this. (Is this what is known as JBOD?)
Can anyone confirm whether or not I'll be ok with using the onboard SATA connectors with an ICH9R chipset and not using raid?
