I am running Windows XP and have installed two devices. A CD-RW and a DVD/CD-RW. They both show as functioning properly in the device manager. I have also checked in Administrative Tools/Computer Management/Disk Management and both show as Healthy and read the size of the CD. I am sure I have loaded the most up to date drivers for both running on Windows XP. However, nothing I do provides a fix to read the CD's or DVD that work in other PC's.
What drive is this? Some drives have difficulty reading burned CDs or DVDs. It's also possible that your drive is so old that it's no longer reading media properly.

R_manic, thanks for the reply. I am using a Samsung CDRW/DVD SM-352B and a ACER 36X CD-RW. I also tried a CD-RW from my other computer that I know worked and it did not work in this computer. I also checked the IDE Driver which seems to be up to date.
One other thing. When I go to check what is on the disk in Windows Explorer it ask to "Please insert CD" even when I have one in there. I had a CD-RW in installed that did not do this. Just blinked a yellow light so I put in another one. All the drives that I beleive work have the "Please insert CD....." Message.
