Hi, i want to update my 6600GT with a new card.
I currently have the ASUS A8N-SLI deluxe motherboard, an Athlon 4200-X2 cpu socket 939 and an enermax PSU 420W.
I m considering a 9800 GTX but i dont know if my system will support it. What do you propose considering my power supply and my maindoard? What is the best card that my PC will support? thanks :sol:

It should support it. The 9800gtx consumes only slightly more power than a g92 8800gts. It uses 2 pcie power connectors though, so make your psu has two of them.

Btw, for 9800 performance, see this benchmark:

8800GTS uses one connector? I've read in another topic that you need a min. 450W for the 9800GTX. Maybe its a wiser choice to buy the 8800GTS? What do you think?

They're overestimating. 9800gtx doesn't consume that much power. It's up to you if you think it's worth it. :p

You might be able to find a adaptor that converts other connector into another pcie connector. Not sure how well they work though.

^^^Totally agree that the 8800gts (g92) is a better buy than the 9800gtx. The power consumption is about the same, 99w by Atomics information

8800gtx w/e6600 OC'd will run on Antec 380w w/27A on 12v rail, PSU!!

8800GTS G92 is a great buy now (USA anyway). If you game at a low res (1280x1024, 1440x900, etc.) , make sure you crank some eye candy (fsaa/AF) levels or you'll be throwing performance away with that CPU.

I have to concur with the 8800GTS/512 vs 9800GTX statement. The cost difference in no way vouches for the extra cash. Unless you need Tri-SLI support or just want bragging rights, go with the 8800GTS.

The 8800GTS overclocks well past the stock clock of the GTX and if you aren't confortable with OCing the card you can always get a factory OCed card.
