Hi all
I have been planing to upgrade my current graphic card to Gigabyte GeForce 8800GT 512MB and I think I need to upgrade my PSU also.
I hope every one knows that 8800GT has a PCIe socket in order to connect a PCIe cable (looks like a cable contain 6 little cables - 3 yellows and 3 blacks) from the PSU to the 8800GT (I don't mean the PCIe slot in the motherboard)
Now, my question is: Do I HAVE to connect a PCIe cable from the PSU or not??
If I have to connect a PCIe cable how many Watts and Amps do I have to have in my PSU? (I think something about 500-600 Watts and 12V rail/s at 22-26 Amps but I'm not sure...) anyway my current PSU is LC-B500E - 500Watts.
1.Do I HAVE to connect a PCIe cable from the PSU to the 8800GT?
2.Should I upgrade my current PSU in order to get the best performance in 8800GT?

Yes, you have to connect it. And although 26 amps is a bit low, it might be enough. You should try it since you already have a psu, and if it's not enough, you can always upgrade then.
Yes, you have to connect a 6-pin cable to the 8800GT, if you don't It'll work in low power 2D mode (ie. in windows) and will display a message saying it's not getting enough power and it's working slower.
