Ok, so i'm just gonna get down to it. I currently have a DFI P965-S Dark motherboard that I got for next to nothing. Then i found out that with a BIOS upgrade, I can run a 45nm CPU. only problem is that it runs at a fsb of 1066. the only 1066fsb 45nm cpu is the E7200 for $130, but i hear that they have crappy temperature sensors and do not give accurate readings. i also found an E6850 for $160. i'm only looking to spend about 150 dollars US, and any input is greatly appreciated.

yes, i will be overclocking. i will be using this for gaming and mp3 encoding, but 99% of time time, it will be gaming.

from what i hear, all of the 45nm intel chips have bad temperature sensors, so i wouldn't worry about that. not sure which one is better overclocker

i think you should buy E7200.Only the some sensors are wrong. You will probably get good sensor. My friend has E7200 and sensors are OK

Intel all the way!

I agree, the E7200 is the better choice here. I wouldn't worry so much about sensors. Just put a quality CPU Cooler on it, and It should be fine. If I had the money, I would be buying an E7200 right now, lol. Though Its likely not as popular as the E8400.

Brisbane core AMD processors are famous for faulty temperature sensors and yet are one of the more popular processors on the market, I don't think it's a big deal at all even if they don't display the correct temperature. As was said before, just get a good cooler (S1283, Ninja, TRU, TRUE) and you'll be fine.

first of all, thank you for your input.

as for the cooler, i should be fine in that aspect, as i have a water cooling loop. i just couldnt make up my mind about what processor to go with.

so E7200 it is. :D hopefully i can get it to 4ghz.

I love my 1283, only problem with it is that it BARELY fits inside my Antec 900 case with the side fan in, like the fan touches the heatsink
