Hey everyone. Im going to be making a budget mobo purchase soon and i have to choose between 2 mobo's that are under $60:

My question is would you choose a mobo that has 1600/1333 FSB or NVIDIA nForce 650i Ultra North Bridge Chipset.

I've done my homework within the past couple of weeks and I've read that the NVIDIA nForce 600 & 700 series chipsets are the best vs the Intel P series and X38/48 series. (That is because my needs are NOT storage or raid performance)

I believe that this is somewhat important, but if anyone disagrees and thinks i should overlook this, then support your argument because im always willing to learn.

Also if anyone knows of a mobo that is $60 or under and has great specs for the price, feel free to suggest. (But please don't suggest if you dont know what you're talking about technically, or have "my friend of a friend and his motherboard" stories.) The processor is going to be a Q6600. Thanks.

That's common conception or misconception, if you will. i.e. the specs of a mobo says 1333mhz fsb. Does it mean it can't go over that? Not if you overclock. At stock, it's up to 1333mhz fsb. I had a P35 with up to 1333mhz fsb, but I was running it at 1780mhz fsb overclocked. For x38/x48, they can go over 2000mhz hands down, even though the specs say 1600mhz fsb.

So it boils down to whether you overclock or not.
