Alright, I usually try and google a problem until I find a solution somewhere, but this one has me completely stumped.

Just built a new rig with an asus striker II formula (a 780i board)... Everything is running beautifully except my sata blu-ray drive. Both my sata HD's are detected flawlessly every time... but my blu-ray drive is only detected probably 10-15% of the time by bios seemingly randomly.

The weird thing is, if its one of those 10-15% times, then the drive works perfectly for the duration of the boot. This leads me to believe the drive is not bad.

I have swapped sata cables
I have tried different ports
Multitude of bios settings... although someone said use IDE mode, but I cannot find that option in my bios (1305)

I even tried buying a cheap bi-directional sata/ide convertor, that didn't work at all.

I hope someone can please help me, because I am on the verge of just buying an IDE drive. Lucky for me I have an external usb dvd/cd burner, but relying on an external for everything is a pain plus i can't watch blu-ray.

Thanks!!

I did try updating the firmware to latest version, it appeared to have no effect on my issue.
