Hello,

I have a 150GB Raptor hard drive that no longer shows up in Windows. I was getting disk write errors before that. I opened the case and the drive is not spinning. (It has a clear see through top)

I tried a brand new SATA cable, and another power connector (which I know works on another hard drive), but the drive still isn't spinning at all.

Is the drive completely dead or is there something I can do? It has about 100GB of data on it that I don't want to lose.

Thanks

Bummer, sounds like a 'dead' drive. Same thing happened to me. You can try in another machine, but I think it's dead. If you absolutely need the 100gb of stuff, you can take it to a computer shop and they can retrieve the info for you for a price (~$150-$200). They usually take the platters out and put those into another drive to access. Although they might be able to to fix it...either way it's not cheap.

You can try to download the WD HD utility. Something like this may help
