Hey,

I have just completed my first computer build...

It is a Asus motherboard (M2N-MX SE Plus) with a AMD athlon x2 4600+ processor and DDR2 800 memory...

I have an Visiontek HD3870 and scored a 8500 on 3dmark06 (seems low)

I was wondering if updating the motherboard to one with a faster FSB (hypertransport) would increase the performance of the computer.

Not with your current cpu. The 4600+ will only run at 1000Mhz. You will need a Phenom and Mobo that will support a faster speed.
