My 8800GTS 512 is sick of my old blurred 17' CRT Syncmaster.
To my knowledge the best res for gaming is 1680x1050, and all i'll do is gaming, right now playing Assassins Creed, COD4, Bioshock.
So i can't decide between these wich are the best LCDs available at my local store.
20' & 21.6'

Can anyone explain why contrast ratio has two ratios? Like DC 8000:1(1000:1)

I think that the first contrast is the dynamic contrast and the seconde one is the static. I think the best image quality is going to come from the 20'' monitor because ther is more pixels per inch the the 22''.

I've used a new Samsung 2253BW and was not impressed with the color accuracy and build quality compared to the previous gen 2x6BW series (206BW and 226BW that I've used).  The insanely high contrast ratio is meaningless.

I have the 206BW and love it, it looks great, and the 2ms response time is awesome.

i have the samsung 2032 which is a similar 20' but with a 2ms response. It cost me £150 and iam very happy with it. If you gety the 20' you get a smaller pixel pitch and therfore slightly crisper image.

When i upgraded form my old crappy 17' crt the difference was amazing, every game was so much better...its as tho you were lost in the massive clear image.  Its much more important to have a good monitor than a good gpu IMO.

Oh and in response to your question about the contrast ratio.....the lower value is the true contrast ratio....the higher number is the fake contrast ratio that they achieve through software or something. They monitor the spread of colours and somehow automatically adjust the contrast ratio so thats its optimum for covering the colours needed.
