Need Help With my External Hard drive. someone plea help!!

Hey all, I need Help With my External Hard drive. The issue is that when ever i put it in my computer it asks me to format it before i can use it, but this is the first time it has asked me this, and I do not want format it because i will loose all my valuable data. Is there any way I can get all the data off it???


This is the Hard drive I have: NexStar 3 External 3.5" hard drive. estat & usb 2.0 interface.

This happens on any computer you've connected to? If so, there could be something wrong with the enclosure. Buy a 3.5" hard disk enclosure (searching for that on NewEgg.com is a great place to start), remove your hard disk from your current case, then install it on the one you bought. See if hooking up this new setup to your computer's USB works. Good luck!
