  1. run regedit

    and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Desktop\NameSpace

under NameSpace you will see GUIDs check them(dont remove recycle or my computer ....) if you find remove GUID

if it does not solve use

    rd /s /q "file path"
  2. download Unlocker from Cnet.com

I tried numerous proffered CMD solutions, MS solutions and a couple of other commercial programs. Unlocker did it. Thanks Cedrick from me Down-Under.
  4. Are you trying to delete the icon or the file it represents? Judging by the fact that you said there's no file attached, all you have to do is right click the icon and hit "delete".
