OK I’m not 100% positive on all the choices yet. More like completely flexible and sick of searching everywhere and looking to get some quick opinions for guidance. Computer is for gaming 40%, photo-editing 40%, 20% misc. Also would like 8ish USB (never thought I would say that.) trying total build price around 1200-1500 but whatever depends on what i really need so im flexible.... haha I don’t need the floppy or cd drive or speakers, onboard audio is fine a lot have hd onboard.
WINDOWS XP (got license already 32bit and hate Vista)
CPU - Q6600, G0 Stepping (Want to OC to 3.0-3.2) ($224)
CPU Cooler - Zalman 9700 ($65)
Motherboard - Not sure need suggestion (I want to do raid 0 question is get a decent board with raid or separate card)
Graphics - Dual 8800s (like to OC so what model should I go with?)
Ram - Article on this site said Geil is good ram when it comes to OC, I was thinking Corsair or Patriot. DDR2 of course because when DDR3 performance actually pays off it will be cheap ram just like ddr2 when ddr was the mainstream. (4gigs would like more but 32 bit limit)
Hard drives - 2-74gig raptors (raid 0)(OS/Games/Photoshop) ($140x2=280) also would I be better adding more raptors say 4 in raid 0 or is performance gain not worth that.
- 160gig wd caviar se (for putting pics on while editing and then they get moved to a raid 5 storage system(2TB)
PSU - 750Wish (brand?)
Case - Whatever don’t matter cheap but effective - no need to waste money here (coolmaster 830 stacker with 1000W psu for $344 any thoughts)(clear side panel not required but wouldn’t mind either... might have to get some lighting if clear panel though just for fun)
Monitor 19inch widescreen Samsung (200)
TV Tuner - Hauppauge
PLEASE DONT CRITIZE ME HERE FOR NOT RESEARCHING I AM LOOKING FOR PEOPLE THAT HAVE BUILT A SYSTEM OR EVEN KNOW A LOT ON WHAT TO CHOOSE. I MAINLY AM LOOKING FOR HELP.
Tell me what I missed.
