Hi. First of all I am a noob so please forgive me if I miss something.
Basically I am trying to get my setup stable @ 4ghz but no matter what I do it always crashes with BSOD. I can get it stable @ 3.8 with either 200x19 or 190x20 so bclk does not seem to be the factor that holds me back (I think).
My settings for 3,8 atm are:

multi x19
bclk 200
ddr x6 @ 1200
uclk x12 @ 2400
qpi x18 @ 3600
v. core 1.35
cpu pll 1.94
qpi/dram 1.4
dram bus 1.5

This seems stable with IBT and 7 passes. Temps are in high 70`s.
I understand that if bclk is stable at multi 12-19 it should be ok for multi 20 as well but I dont know for sure so its a guess really.
My setup is:
i7 920
p6t deluxe
corsair 1333 ram 3x2gb @ 1.5v
xfx gtx260 black ed.
velociraptor 300gb single hdd
blueray lg player
coolermaster v8
antec 900
corsair tx750

Can you please help me to point into right direction at least if not help to find an answer.
I myself am suspecting the cpu itself becuse of the 130W limit or "overspeed" protection
but not sure about it because when I crash or just before temps might be in low 90`s so it seems that cpu does not reach its treshold but I dunno. Maybe I am confusing things.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks for reading, Kam

tried more volts up to 1.45 with no luck, also temps were around low 90s which is hot but not so it would cause bsod? one or some of components can not take the strain? richardscott is v8 really not good enough? do you mean wc by better cooler? also have seen people hit 4.1ghz stable on air with true I think which isnt that much more superior to v8 from what I have found.

it turns out that you already have a very good air cooler which means that id sujest that you reseat your cooler and reapply as5. if your temps are still over 70c then you might have to look into WC for that bit more performance.

Max you want to go is 85C with the 920. So your temperatures are fine. Have you checked if other people are getting 4.0 easily with the P6t deluxe? Could be limitations of the motherboard, but I doubt it. Not knowing anything about your board, I'd say your pll voltage looks high. Some chips need a high voltage for 4.0, but I wouldn't think you'd need more than 1.45 unless you just got really bad luck with chip batch. If you're reaching 90C's at 1.45v then you may need to turn up the AC or lap/reseat your v8.

liderc is yours 4.0ghz achieved with turbo mode on and also have you got the ht enabled? can you please post your settings for me also your v. core is 1.305 @ 4.0ghz ?? atm I am 200x19 with 1.35 and temps are not too bad. 78C after priming for half an hour.

the 4.1ghz I mentioned is on this board but with ht off.

@ richardscott- already tried reseating the cooler with different pastes to no difference overall thanks for your help tho

I don't run turbo mode, 200x20 in bios 2:8 ram ratio for 1600mhz. Ht is enabled.

Settings:
Bclock-200
cpu freq-x20
vcore 1.258 without vdroop(goes to 1.305 during full load)
Ram-2:8
Uncore-x16
+100 vtt(1.3)
vdimm-1.60(shows 1.65 in eleet)
Everything else is on auto

My batch #3841A383

This batch is getting very good OC's with minimal voltages, I've found 2 other people on evga's forum that have the same batch chip and can also hit 4.0 with 1.3vcore.

my batch no is 3838a649 so definately crap no comparing to yours as it needs bloody 1.35v! to run 200x19.

seems like nothing there to be done as I tried many different options to no joy. I will just settle for what I have and hope the next chip I get is the lucky one. thanks for your input very helpful indeed

No problem, don't worry about not hitting 4.0, it's not that spectacular, I realized with this build I don't really do anything that requires my CPU to be oc'd anymore lol. It has just become a hobby.

yeah, I know it does not matter that much really as I wont be able to use all that power anyway..
I am happy with 3.5ghz and temps below 70 at full load, so its just that need for speed. I wanted to get to 4 and say I have done it heres the proof but it did not happened so have to leave it cause this batch aint gonna get any better ;)

just last quick question:
you said you run your ram at 2:8 ratio
is it vs. nb freq or the qpi freq? is your qpi multi locked at x18? if yes then it would be the nb freq vs. ram freq innit?
also I have to run mine at multi 6 because its onle the 1333mhz one,
maybe better ram then?
