I was reading my CPU (Computer Power User) magazine and found there is a application that lets a user to change different features in a hard drive to improve performance.

So I thought to ask here to see if its safe or not. The program or at least I think it is... Is called Hdparm command-line utility which can alter internal hard drive settings.

Page 69 mid way through the page off CPU Magazine. Thanks in advance.

I only took a quick look at but i wouldn't mess with it, without a damn good reason and a lot of research.

imho
programs like that are great if you have a specific goal to obtain and you know the consequences of that decision, not for general tinkering
