Type goes mega small when using laptop mouse

Cannot figure why text suddenly goes small. Tried to observe if it's when I accidentally rest my hand on the moues - just can't fathom it. Right now my email is indecipherably minute! Help please - am a techno dunce. I did notice that sometimes the mouse icon on the screen turns into a cross. ...........Is it a sign??!!
Not even sure which category to click here and am only guessing that I've got Windows Vista. Don't give up on me please.

Please examine the software installed on the PC and see if there is printer software called HP Smart Web Printing
Remove this software and that mayl solve your problem.
