Will my VisionTek ATI HD 3650 work with the 64-bit version of xp? or the 64-bit version of vista?

I can't really seem to get an answer. I called visiontek and they said "We don't know"....... great. Its so difficult to figure what components and software work with these new OS's, please help me figure this out!

Do you really need 64 bit XP?

Its a pretty crap OS to be honest (way worse than vista!)

My ATI card works with 64bit XP. BTW, I don't think it is a crap OS. It runs fine for me.

ATI does have better driver support for Vista now though, so I'd spend the $10 extra and get vista home premium 64.

I need XP or Vista, and the 64 bit versions would be great to have for when I want to upgrade to more than 4gb of RAM.

I need to know if my devices are compatible!

VisionTek ATI Radeon HD 3650
RaptorX 150gb
GSKILL 2x2gb DDR2 1066
Samsung DVD Writer SH-203
GIGABYTE mobo (i know this is 64bit compatible)

Of course it's compatible. The hardware itself does not care if the OS is 32 or 64bit. It's only a problem if the manufacturer does not have drivers for it. At the moment, Vista 64bit has no more compatibility problems than Vista 32bit. Chances are, if you have old hardware that's no longer getting driver support from manufactuer, they'll have neither Vista 32bit nor Vista 64bit drivers for it.

@OP:

If you are planing on getting RAM natively higher than DDR2 800 be aware that there will be compatibility issues. Many users reports and my personal testing has shown that there is a very good chance you will run in to issues with RAM higher than DDR2 800, such as DDR2 1066. I recommend you get quality DDR2 800 RAM and run them at 1:1 ratio or overclock the RAM. This issue dose not apply to DDR2 800 RAM that has been overclocked.

The 3860 will work fine with XP x64 or Vista x64 as drivers are available.

Look under "AMD Product Support"

XP x64

Vista x64

If I were you I would looking to having compatibility issues with things like USB WiFi adapter, etc. For example one of my friends found out that his older wireless USB adapter doesn't work with XP x64 after he upgraded to XP x64. So now he has to wait for it to be shipped. (~$20-30 for the good PCI card compatible with XP x64 and Vistax64.
