I have a Emachine T6525 and I'm in desperate need to up grade its processor. As of now its running Windows XP 2002 media center. It is a 2.2ghz machine with 1 gig of ram 200mhz FSB 512 l2 kb cash. I have upgraded the video card recently to a Nvidia Geforce 8600 gt and boosted the power source from 200 watts to 400 watts.
Can anyone suggest a few processors that i could add to my Frankenstein machine??
Thanks

Without knowing the motherboard no one will give you a solid answer.

Okay. I just searched the web and the chipset is ATI RS482. I have no idea if that helps but its all i can find at the moment.

Maybe its time to retire the emachine? your memory and GPU are the things holding you back with decant vid card and two gigs of ddr2 800 a 2.2 proc
can do most jobs well. with your curnt plat form upgrading is really a bad idea for 300-400 rang you can build a AMD 780g platform pc that you will be able to up grade for some time or spend a few more dollars and get a intel 775 platform.

this is the only 754 CPU that newegg sells 1.9 single core for 160.00

No, it is time to retire your emachine.
Not only is the S754 dead, it is an emachine. There is 0.1% chance they will let you upgrade the CPU. Cuts into their profit margen when you can upgrade your old machine...

Luckly, you are in the right place to learn how to build a new machine to replace it!

What are you planing on doing with your machine and what type of budget do you have? What parts do you have now that you could reuse?
