I would like to achieve a good understanding about overclocking, i read alot of pc mags and find it all very interesting idd.

plus my games would run quicker on an overclocked rig :)

My specs.

I7 920 @2.67 with Asus Triton 81 Quiet CPU Cooler.

Asus P6T Deluxe.

Corsair 3GB DDR3 XMS.

HIS HD4870 1gig.

1TB Drive.

Coolmaster 700w PSU.

And its all in an Antec 900 case.

I would not hold my breath over performance improvement in games. For that you need another of yours hd4780.

So for understanding read trough this:
http://hothardware.com/Articles/Overclocking-Intels-Core-i7-920-Processor/?page=4

For overclocking on your board just get in to the bios (pressing del button on post)
Go to ai tweaker menu and change overclocking option from auto to manual. Then just raise your bclk from def 133 to 166 and leave the rest on auto. This way you will get to 3.32ghz and when turbo kicks in 3.48ghz.

Hope this helps ;)

Thats good. mine at 3.8 goes up to high 70`s but I need a lot of juice to get there. Run prime for at least 6-8 hours (blend test) to confirm that its stable. Other than that just enjoy :D

I know that's a mild OC and you are unlikely to have problems, but note that the accepted standard for OC stability is 24 hours stable on Prime 95 torture test with Small FFTs.
