Pc help

Hello,
I need some serious help,my pc is on the recovery manager page and when I move it there is a blue screen in back of it,I was told by a tech the system operation has to be reinstalled and you can buy the disc from microsoft,or from a other store,what I hit was real player upgrade 11,what can I do to avoid this from happening again,and will I still have all my real player videos,music& video,audio clips on the library file when I get my internet connection back,thanks fro any help,danny...
