Hey guys, I just got 3 new Seagate 7200.12 hard drives from ZipZoomFly.
SEAGATE Barracuda 7200.12 ST3500418AS 500GB SATA II 7200 RPM

I just noticed that each single drive makes a very faint high pitch noise when powered on (and idle). When I turn on the box, the high pitch seems to "rev up", starting from a low pitch then goes higher.

I can hear it when I learn towards the box, it's very faint, but even with the fans going - it is very noticeable with all 3 HDs combined.

Is this normal? Any word of a few hiccups in quality control? Or is this just a rare HD quirk that I was lucky enough to have.

Advice is appreciated, thanks!
:hello:

All mechanical hard drives make noise. Some more than others. The high pitch whine is probably coming from the 7200rpm motors.... I do not believe that this is abnormal for the drives that you got as the Seagate drives are a little noisy.
