Well first things first, Dump the Xtreme version unless you have $$$$, the Q9450 or even 9550 will rock that build the same.

Also, dude you gotta dump the 1GB memory modules and go for a pair of 2GB memory modules, the cost isn't even that extensive.

Also that is not a good PSU choice for such a high end build.  You'll want something with much more amperage.  Look into PC power and cooling, corsair, seasonic, and there are others... other members here will be able to chime in better there.

Another thing that I just noticed, why do you have the clear side panel for the CM 690 case when you plan to get the CM 830?  That makes no sense to me.

oohh, i just noticed the DDR3, well my personal opinion is that is a waste, but to each their own i suppose.  You can get a 780i board with DDR2 and save some serious bone, and take MAYBE a 3%-5% hit in benchmark performance, you won't even see a difference real world

oops Side Panal was a mistake :)

does getting the 2GB Sticks of Ram help with performance or is it just so I can upgrade later?

I figured since the cpu has a 1600 mhz bus without an OC I would need better ram to get that high.

I'm not worried about saving money really some of my friends play golf and spend way to much money on it imo :)  I'm an old fart who plays video games :) my goal is to build a kick ass system short of say 5-6k

On another note Im very interested in cooling but scared to death over flooding my pc anyone know any nice Cases with build in "extream" cooling?

Check Asus they have 790i chipset mobo

Maybe I am crazy, but the performance difference between the QX6800 and the QX9770 isn't great enough to warrent an entirely new computer. Unless you run the QX9770 at 4ghz, you won't see much more than a 5-10% performance increase. Furthermore, if you are trying to plan for the future when GT-200 and RD-700 come out, I would wait. Nehalem is right around the corner anyways as well.

Kad the board i picked is a 790i board not intel

Silaz building it is less for a replacement and more for a Hobby/Learning thing I used to build my own pc's back in the early 90's and well life just got too busy I got addicted to just buying a new Dell XPS whenever I could not play a game.  I want to be able to upgrade when I want going foward and well Dell's are a pain. Also I would love to be able to do a Super OC Is it possable to get the Qx9770 to 4ghz? If so would I need water cooling or phase change cooling?  I'm open to anything.  Also I have no clue what Nehalem is and all I do remember something was coming out soon all the time though

what kind of cooling are you looking for on your CPU?

I personally recommend any and Thermoelectric air cooler if you plan on overclocking and if you are worried about heat.

Newegg doesnt seem to get any new ones in for the Monsoon Elite II, but on Tiger Direct they still have Ultra Chilltecs in stock, they are the exact same just with different names engraved on them, toms has reviews of them, i have one and i can say much easier than water cooling and just good at cooling. If you don't care about going green, then its really the best choice for maximum performance

Then he has to pay a fortune
With every new generation prices of everything are doubling
Mobo, proc, ram, graphic card

Intel all the way!

This would be a kick ass machine.  Though I agree switching from DDR3 to DDR2 (say 1066) would save money, and you won't notice the difference.  That CPU is 1600Mhz FSB, which works out to 400Mhz quad pumped.  Oh,  Maybe Skulltrail is worth looking at?

2x QX9775 for 8 cores can't be all bad, lol.

@OP:
If you are planing on getting RAM natively higher than DDR2 800 be aware that there will be compatibility issues. Many users reports and my personal testing has shown that there is a very good chance you will run in to issues with RAM higher than DDR2 800, such as DDR2 1066. I recommend you get quality DDR2 800 RAM and run them at 1:1 ratio or overclock the RAM. This issue dose not apply to DDR2 800 RAM that has been overclocked.
