I need a 500+gb external hard drive, but I am mostly concerned about longevity. I want the drive to stay cool and work for years to come. Would an internal drive with an adapter cable or enclosure work better than an external drive, or will the external drive be better?

Thanks.

External drives are the same drives as internal drives. Sometimes it is hard to tell who made the drives that go into external hard drive systems. Look for an external enclosure that has the cooling that you want. Put the drive of your choice in it.
