e8400 heatsink is clicking and not spinning

My stock e8400 Heat sink fan is making a clicking noise and the fan is not turning. Every so often it will spin some, but for the most part it looks like its trying to spin but getting stuck. Its only 3.5 weeks old, is it shot already?

anyone have this issue? anything I can do to fix it?

OH, and I looked there is nothing obstructing it, so it is free to spin if it want to. And now it is spinning. WT? Is it maybe because when it started the CPU was only at 24 C?

There are probably options in your BIOS to set how the fan runs. At default, it may only run when needed, or ramp between some percentage and 100%, depending on temps. If you can adjust the minimum percentage, try adding 10%-15% to it and see if the fan will start even when your system is cool.

I don't think it would ever turn it off. I think the fan might be bad. I would buy a new heatsink or contact Intel or the retailer about replacement.
