RAID 0_OS Reinstall?

Is the only way to setup RAID to set it up at the time of OS install. OR can I add an identical HDD then just enable RAID 0?

My understanding is that it must be set up at OS install and you can not add an identical drive later on.

Please confirm this though.

You cannot set up a RAID 0 array after, during, or at the time of an OS install.

It must be done in the RAID BIOS, and the array must be built and functioning before you even think about installing an OS.

well then my plan is to buy 3 new awsome hard drives, connect them, set them up as RAID 0 then install the OS onto them, then with my old hard drive still connected and with the OS on it I will transfer the files I want to onto the new RAID 0 array of disks. Seems feasible right? Can anyone confirm this?
