Hello,

I'm having trouble making a decision regarding the video card for a gaming build. With the 4870 coming out it seems to make sense to wait to get it, but I've always had NV cards and would feel more comfortable getting one. Would it make sense to just get a 9800gtx and step up to a g200 model when it comes out? Of course, for this to work, the new NV cards would have to come out in the next couple of months and I haven't heard anything about a release date. However, if the overwhelming majority here think that the 4870 is going to be superior, then I'll go with that. I look forward to hearing your opinions.

Thanks,

X

Better to wait until end of this month (may 31st) when 4870 comes out. Early benchmarks may be fake. And don't get 9800gtx, it's overpriced and perform the same as 8800gts.

9800GTsuX is very underwhelming....even though you prefer Nvidia, you ought to wait for the Radeon 4870.

Like everyone else will tell you its best to wait at least until the 4870 comes out. Even if you are still going to go with NV you'd still save some money by ATI's release as the current cards price should drop a little more, though most affected should be the 8800 GTS price. If not you have nothing to lose, only to gain.
