Error loading message

When starting up our daughter's laptop, I receive the following message - error loadingC:\Windows\system32\cbbatnad.dll What is this and how do I fix it?

We do not know what kind of laptop this is, and you may have other recovery options.
The boot files have been corrupted, but there is a way to fix it if you have an XP install disk, or the manufacturer's system recovery disk.

On a Dell laptop for example, hold down F8 while starting the computer. There are on many models, system recovery and repair options.
