It's enough, just a bit close. I know somebody who had a q6600 and two 8800GTX on a Silencer 750W. It worked with 3 hard disks. It stopped working with 7 hard disks and a bunch of lights. It really depends on whether you will stop here or keep adding things (HDD, fans, PCI cards, etc.). It's probably smart to get something bigger, like a Toughpower 850W or TurboCool 860W. Since you are getting a QX CPU and a DQ6 and DDR3 you obviously have plenty of cash, so why not.

You could save a lot of money with a DDR2 MB/RAM and a Q6700...

I agree with Aevm. A Toughpower 850wt would be good with that setup. Also agree that using DDR2 ram instead of DDR3 would be wise. For the time being, DDR3 does not do significantly better than top quality DDR2 ram, and the DDR2 ram costs less than half as much. With the money saved on ram, you could step up to a QX9770 if you wanted.

+1 for AEVM's note regarding DDR2 and Q6700.

You won't notice any difference between that Q6700 and QX.

I'm curious to know as to why you wish to get a 9800GX2 now when the GTX280 is just 10 days away...

Anyways, yeah you ought to get an 850W PSU

I'm not gonna get a 9800GX2, i just put it there to have a real card since we don't know how much power the GTX 280 is gonna consume, but it will probably be the same as the GX2

You tell me what I do.

the power supply would be enough.but sometime you will have to look out for how much overclock you put on the CPU.as the voltage and amp flactuation will affect the stability at very high speed.

but generally i would say you will be safe with that power supply you got.

Personally I thinka 750 watt PSu should be plenty.  To give you a comparsion look at this review of X48 DQ 6 motherboard

http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/1 [...] index.html

That's running a QX6700 overclocked to 3.0Ghz, 8800 GTS 640MB, X48 motherboard,  2Gb of Ram, 1 HD and a fan and draws just under 400 Watt's at load.

A QX9650 draws 73 watts at load

A 9800 GX2 draws 338 watts at load
http://www.tomshardware.com/review [...] 92-14.html

So even with the rest of your componants I can't see your PSU crying for mercy.

The 750 is more than enough power for the rig you have listed.

As soon as we opened the power supply we had a déjà vu feeling. The layout was very similar to the one used by Thermaltake Toughpower 750 W, which is also manufactured by CWT. However, after a closer inspection on the printed circuit board we could find enough differences to say for sure that even though they have the same labeled power and are manufactured by the same company, they are definitely different products (also Thermaltake’s product has three 18 A +12 V rails while Corsair’s has a single 60 A rail).

We were not only impressed by the fact that a power supply labeled as a 750 W product could deliver 900 W but also because it could maintain an efficiency over 80% under this circumstance.
