Hi to All,

Im building a new rig and what I'm basically planning on getting is the E2180 cpu and OC it to 3ghz. I have set my eyes on a DS3 mboard but I don't know which of the two I should pick, (GIGABYTE P35-DS3L 71 euro) or (GIGABYTE GA-EP35-DS3R 102 euro).

I would obviously prefer to get the DS3L because its cheaper :D but if I do will it still be able to OC the E2180 to 3ghz, or is the DS3R better suited for that?

Oh, and one more question.... I currently have a zalman 460w PSU, would that be able to handle the above and say a 4850 radeon?

Thanks in advance everyone.

4850 System requirements:

450 Watt or greater power supply with 75 Watt 6-pin PCI Express® power connector recommended (550 Watt and two 6-pin connectors for ATI CrossFireX™ technology in dual mode)

If you are building a new rig, I would get the P45 chipset.

Go to the Gigabyte web site. There is an option to compare their motherboards side by side. See if there are any features that you need from the DS3R. For example, RAID(not recommended by me), more than 4 sata ports, more usb ports. As far as I know, overclocking capability is the same.

DS3L has 4 phase voltage regulators while DS3R has 6. L has realtek 888 audio, R has 889a (slightly better). R also supports raid and L does not. Rest is irrelevant to me.

Since you're getting a Duo CPU and not a quad- i can tell you that 4 phase voltage regulators on DS3L are enough. Rest is up to you.

Thanks everyone for the replies, in the end im gona go with the DS3L because all I want it for is to be able to OC the e2180 to 3ghz (for gaming and movies), dont need raid or any fancy feature.

Let me just add that since I want to OC to 3ghz, is 800mhz ddr2 ram sufficient of should I go for higher clocked ram?

And read about Gigabytes memory debacle if you plan on using 1066 memory. I have had 2 gigabyte mb's over the last 6 months junk in my opinion, and try and find a support forum, oh they don't have one.

Just my 2 cents

How did you get the 2nd board then if you didn't deal with support?
My 2 cents
