I have bricked 3 of these HDD now! It always happens when I try to add another drive to my PC. Does anyone out there know what I could be doing wrong? 2 of them were 7200.11, but the latest one was a 7200.12 which worked perfectly until I had to add another 500GB!

To brick 3 hard drives in a row, I'd suspect either a faulty PSU or very poor/no anti-static handling procedures.

A bunch of .11 Seagate's had bad firmware, but the problem was supposed to fixed in the .12 drives.

This is why, for now, that I am a WD proponent.

if it were static related, the HHD i was adding would be the one to brick. it's ALWAYS one of the HDD's on the PC already! this happened on 3 different PC's, so I doubt that it's the PSU.

Seagate is the problem here.

What are you system specs and your P/S specs? Besides my personal bad experiences with Seagate drives I would suspect that there is a power supply issue. Not only the voltage but the amperage as well could be the culprit as well as faulty Molex power connectors.
