In my new build I am running a Q9450, Gigabyte GA-EX38-DS4 Board, and 4gb (2X2gb) G.Skill DDR2-1066. I have it running stable at 3.2Ghz (400 X 8) and my memory appears to be running at 800mhz. Thats not a big deal, my Q6600 ran 3.2Ghz no problems but my memory wouldn't go over 533mhz. I was figuring since this CPU is 266Mhz faster I could at least get 3.4Ghz out of it. I got it to boot at 3.5 and it shut down. If anyone has an X38 chipset, what kind of voltages are you running and what speeds are you reaching?
Also, CPU-Z said my memory is running as PC2-6400, I guess that means its at 800mhz right now? And CPU-Z doesnt tell me much about the CPU and speedfan does not read the CPU temps. The CPU seems to be hitting about 110F at load, which is a lot considering I have a zalman 9700, and my old system ran at 85F.
I'm running the Q9450 on a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS4 with a Zalman 9500. Everything run fine @ 3.6GHz @ stock voltage, but CoreTemp was about 72C so I went down to 3.2 GHz.
Is it 110F at idle? What is temp with load?
If your runnig @ 3.2 GHz (400 x 8) you should be able to set the System Memory Multiplier(SPD) to 2.66 and your RAM should run @ 1064MHz
It's about 110F at idle and around 120-125F at load. I'm sort of disappointed because my Q6600 idled at 85F and only hit 100F at full load with a CM Gemini heatsink. I think the zalman kind of sucks. I was hoping for 3.6 or 3.8ghz out of this CPU. I'm gonna have to do more tinkering to get it there.
