Im looking at the evga 8800 gt and I have a few questions. I am currently running windows xp and I know that theres no direct x 10 for xp at the moment. I want to know if I get the 8800gt and force it to run directx9 will it suffer performance wise? I also want to know how I tell the difference between pci X16 and pci X16 2.0? I checked my manual for my mobo and it doesnt specify. its an Asus P5l-mx and ive had it about a year.

It will switch automatically to DX9.

The performance question: PCE-e 2.0 lets you have multiple PCI-e slots running at full x16 bandwidth.

There is ALWAYS a drone.

More Information

PCI-e 2.0 has nothing to do with the number of slots running at full bandwidth. That is a characteristic of the mobo chipset.
PCIE 2.0 will ultimately increase the bandwidth available, however nothing fully uses 1.1 right now, so it doesn't matter.

---------------
There is ALWAYS a drone. Exactly where, or how many drones you will encounter may vary, but that there will be at least one will not.
