9900gtx spec

I say bunk.

240 Stream processors? What's the new configuration, because it doesn't match their current one. It's an uneven ratio SPU to ROP and Cluster to ROP/SPU.

Seems like a re-combination of a bunch of rumours of which the OP doesn't fully understand.

And as dagger mentions, anyone can make a blog.

Maybe theyre using half ROPs

I thought the prevailing wisdom w/ nVidia was to always to skip a generation!

They still haven't outdone their most recent cu de gras architecture- the G80, G92 was a budget refresh they were allowed to capitalize too much on.

The 9800gx2 is a dam good card if you ask me. I think you people expect too much. The difference between last generation high end cards and current generation is suppose to be around 20%-30%. Which Nvidia made sure they did. Compare the 8800ultra with the 9800gx2 30% difference.

I wouldn't judge yet. Keep your brain open until nvidia tells us the specs. Right now theres 2 main rumors.
1 is that its an update of the flopping 9800's
2 is that it uses the GT200 core, totally new dsign

i owned a 8800gts g92 a 9800gtx and now i have a 9800gx2 not much better then my older 8800gts g92 well i dont think paying 300$ more for a 15-20% increase is not worth it.
well just my opinion.

didnt nvidia say something like they were gonna use 55nm?

I've read that they're doing both, to ensure that one works straight from the bat. Obviously scared of ATI's R770 chip. If both work, expect to see the 9900 GT at 65nm and the GTX at 55nm

Not necessarily. Nvidia kept all g92 cards they've released to date horribly bottlenecked in term of memory bandwidth for a good reason. Just look at how the old g80 on the Ultra, which wasn't bandwidth bottlenecked, outperform the 8800gts with much more powerful g92 gpu. It would make more sense if Nvidia finally let loose the g92 as a successor of the older g80 ultra, and charge similar sky prices to make the highest possible profit. It'd fit the current trend. :p
