Dear all,

I'm building a gaming PC, and need suggestion on what RAM to choose.

I want atleast 4GB RAM, but not to expensice around $350.

I'm going to run Windows Vista ultimate 64bit on a Intel Core 2 Quad and a ASUS StrikerII nForce 780i.

what RAM would suit best? Dual channel RAM? What is best for gaming/multimedia?

Corsair Twin2X 2x1024MB DDR2
PC6400 DDR800, CAS 5-5-5-12-T1, Built In LED Lights, Twin2X2048-6400PRO

Are these good?

Please give me a few suggestions! =)

This is the PC I'm building:
Case: ThermalTake - Armor VA8003BWS, BTX Ready
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 3.0GHz
RAM: 4GB DDRII
Mobo: Asus StrikerII / nForce 780i ATX
HDD: 4x250GB WD caviar SATA300 16mb, RAID 0+1 and 2x500GB WD caviar SATA (movies, mp3 etc.)
Cooler: ThermalRight - Ultra-120 eXtrene with Arctic Silver gel
PSU: ThermalTake - ToughPower Series 850Watt (need a new PSU when changing my SLI GFXs)
Drive: Sony DVD-R burner
GFX: 7800GTX SLi (next in line to be changed with 88xx or 98xx GeForce SLi SOON!)

take care

DDR2 is so cheap right now. The only suggestion I would give you if you are purchasing PC2 6400 to look at the timings. Look for 4-4-4-12 instead of the 5-5-5-15. Here are a couple:

These are just a few, the list goes on and on. Personally I like Patriot Memory and I use PC2 8500 2x2gigs sticks of extreme performance.

Guess I was too quick to press the order buttom. I ordered these:

Corsair Twin2X 2x2048MB DDR2, PC8500 DDR1066, Built-In Fan, CAS 5-5-5-15, TWIN2X4096-8500C5DF (Dominator with DHX Technology)

Not good?

You'll be fine. I ran some tests and DDR2800Mhz at 4-4-4-12 performs about the same as DDR2900Mhz 5-5-5-15

Besides memory speed affects peformance the least. You won't notice a thing.

Only suggested it because the price is about the same and if you are looking to OC you could loosen the timing to the higher timings and get a little more bus out of it. I just wish I could get 4-4-4-12 with my PC2 8500 sticks :(. Anyway enjoy, what you purchased will suit you well.
