im trying to install this all using the hard drives that had xp installed and trying to get vista on the comp
anyway got the mobo and processor today put it in and booted it up expecting to go into bios. but as soon as it turns on i get an error prompting me for an a drive (floppy) *Drive A Error. System Halt*
so i plugged in a floppy drive and then it asks to put in a boot disk but i didnt get one? dont even know that mobos even need floppy drives to be installed. is there like a system boot thing i can copy onto 6 floppies or is the mobo **** or is the ram **** or is something else ****?
posting on a laptop atm nothing else to do so ill be refreshing every min or so i appreciate any help that i can get
I had the same problem using 4 sticks of ram in that board.
Drop down to 2 sticks and you should be fine. To solve the problem, either use approved memory or manually set the timings yourself in the bios (load two sticks, set all timings manually, then reboot with 4 sticks)
OK this is now without anything plugged in the mobo other than my gfx card, 1 stick of ram and the processor. as i put the computer on i spammed f2, f4, f6, f8 and delete and all the other buttons to get into bios and this is the exact error that comes up
Award BootBlock Bios v1.0

Drive A error. System halt
Perhaps the board is searching for a BIOS update? I don't know why that'd be, but look one up and see if you find one.
If not, find the version you have (the latest, inherently) and flash the BIOS with it - perhaps it's an error, or a changed setting that's causing it. This will "reset" your BIOS.
Try running two sticks, not just one - some boards are finicky about dual-channel operation.
