I see these at reasonable cost available at TigerDirect. I'm considering getting several for multiple backup rounds.
I've been chatting with myself over the last few hours. And I have several pluses and minuses. My main question is if anyone has BAD NEWS about any of these drives.
Iomega:
They have to lie flat
No on/off switch
No personal experience with these products
Hammer:
Never heard of this company
Drive has cooling vents
Reportedly noisy
Requires reformatting to NTFS
Fantom:
Never heard of this company
Two-year warranty
Reportedly runs cool
Requires reformatting to NTFS
Since they are all on sale, I need to make a purchase soon. Pls reply quickly if you have info on any of the models.
I've got personal experience with iOmega—but with their zip drives, not their external disks. I'd say go for the iOmega, unless you come across any particular terrible authentic user review.
