More Information

I have been searching this forum and it appears many people are having problems to get 4GB of RAM to work. I have tried all of the proposed solutions of lowering the timings and multiplier but still no luck. I have 4 Patriot DDR800 sticks. I can install 3 of them and the system boots OK. However when I add a 4th the system will not POST. I have tried different combinations and am sure its not a bad stick. I have also verified its not a bad memory slot.

Here is my config.

Gigabyte 965P-DS3 v3.3 (latest bios)
4X Patriot PC2-6400

I have tried the following options.

System Memory Multiplier 800,667 and 400.
Increased the memory voltage from +1 to +4. System fails to boot at +5
Default timings 5-5-5-16-3

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks
Bart

Try running memtest on each stick to see if the memory is good.

Sorry for the noob question... Is memtest a bios utility?

Maybe the 4th Dimm is bad not sure but to answer the question about the Memtest.

Here you go :wahoo:
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak [...] Test.shtml

BIOS has a MEM TEST that can be enabled when booting up (usually has a couple of settings fast, med, slow), but use the above and enable the BIOS Memtest to fast.

Suggestion:
put everything back to stock settings (Voltage, timings, Multiplyer, etc.). Get everything back on stock for a bit (make sure it is stable) then try adding the the 4th stick and see if it posts.
