I am building a new computer and I am looking at purchaing items through people on craigslist and on ebay.

Here's what I've found so far...

On craigslist:

Biostar TA690G AM2 board for an asking price of $50
EVGA GeForce 8800GTS G92 core vid card for a asking price of $130

On ebay:

Rosewill 600watt power supply
Antec 900 Gaming case

Now I am wondering if what I am looking at is good. Are the items I found on craigslist? Are the prices reasonable? If they are I'd like to know what other goodies you might all recommend in order to complete this rig and make it work!

Thanks in advance!
James

First buy some good motherboard ,if your budget is restricted , ASUS: M3A AM2+,AMD 770  is excelent choice for price and performance of this motherboard.
This motherboard is for next generation of AMD quad core processors

I just read some newegg reviews on this Asus board and things didn't look too good! Any other budget board recommendations out there?

Question, why are you building an AMD system? Do you already have the processor?

No, I don't have a processor yet. I'm just partial to AMD because that is what I have always had running in my systems from the 1.4 Tbird 266 to my most recent AMD 3000 XP.

I see.

I browse around Craig's list too, but can barely find any AMD processors and motherboards worth picking up. Those that are worth picking up, are priced near new.

I do have 2 AMD systems, both are Brisbane 5400+ running on MSI K9A2CF-F 790X. While the board has perform well and overclocks decently, it is version 1 so it will not take Phenom 125W processors. If you find this board, make sure you pickup version 2.

So version 2 supports the latest AMD phenom processors?

How will I know if it's version 2?

Forget the reviews. This mobo oc my x2 4400 from 2.3ghz to 2.88ghz (25% overclock!) stabil 1.32v. Idle @ 25c, full load @ 46c. Plus it has crossfire slot (1x16 ; 1x4) pci-e 2.0. Has all latest technologies. I'm impressed at this mobo capability compare to the price. Works my new hd4850 like a champ. Getting amd phenom 9550 soon. :p
