Hay, I have just purchased a new AMD LE-1620 proc and installed it in my 690G chipset motherboard & It is coming up as an unsupported CPU and their is no bios update to fix this as board is redundant. What should I do will it still work fine in terms of running an OS & overclocking??? Thanks In advance

well if the cpu is unsupported and doesn't work, i doubt that you can run any os and not to mention overclock.

Unfortunately, there is a strong likelihood that it will not work properly, especially if you try to overclock it. I would try to contact the manufacturer of your motherboard and inquire if they intend to support this processor in any future bios updates. If not then you will probably have to make a decision as to whether you want to buy a new motherboard that does support the new processor or whether you want to just buy a different processor that is supported by your motherboard.

This is why you should always check for compatibility before you buy any new components. The unfortunate reality is that most motherboard manufacturers will only support their boards with bios updates for a limited amount of time. This is especially true of the lower cost motherboards.

I wish you luck in talking with the motherboard manufacturer.

Lokk up the spec of your CPU, especially Vcc. If you can manually set the require volts and bus speeds on MANUAL, then it should run OK. If you leave BIOS on AUTO it may well supply too much voltage and damage the CPU as the BIOS does not know what values to use. Install Speedfan so you can monitor temps.

ok thanks its a cheap EQS board (AB1S-RS690MKM) Its prity crap but ok for low
cost builds as it has some decent overclocking features.

Yeah, what mike99 said.
Do the EXACT SAME THING you do when you overclock.
Disable the auto settings for the CPU, and set the buss, multiplier, and voltage manually. It still won't show what kind of CPU it is during POST, but it will work just fine.

Do you know what BIOS ver you currently have??? Ver 2K070525 is supposed to be the current production BIOS. It appears to be from 05/27/2007. As the LE-1620 was released in October 2007, I suspect you already have that version.

Doing what Mike says sounds like the way to address your problem.
