Does anyone know what the 8800GT, and the 8800GTS's 9 series twin will be? Like the 8800GS was to the 7900GS to the 6800GS... Obviously the answer would be the 9900GT or 9900GTS, but it seems like those will be way more expensive then their G92 brothers were. Anyone know what they will be, how much they will cost, and/or a time frame?
The gap between the 8800GT, 8800GTS, and 9800GTX is SO SMALL i think it would be impossible to release a card called the 9800GT or 9800GTS that would not outperform the 9800GTX. If Nvidia wants to keep the following scheme gs<gt<gts<gtx. I have a feeling they will just redo their naming convention in the next round.

*pulls down the heatsink on your 7900 in front of all the other cards and points*
"Now if the 4870x2 was actually notably faster than the 280 for about the same price, then I might even take a chance on it. However, that won't be the case."-robx46
As Jay2tall wrote, the differences among the 8800GT, 8800GTS and 9800GTX are small. In fact, performance wise, they are so small that a person could wonder why there was a 9800 series at all. The biggest difference between the 8800GT and 8800GTS seems to be in the cooler, which may allow for slightly higher clocks while running cooler and quieter. As to the 9800 series, their performance numbers are so close as to be statistically insignificant. Not sure what Nvidia was thinking when they marketed the 9800 series, but it did result in some disappointment and worse, a bit of wariness to the new card they are releasing in a couple months.

Evil lurks in the databanks as it lurked in the streets of yesteryear. But it was never the streets that were evil.

Didn't they say they were going rename their cards?
remember how long it took the 8800 gt to come out after the g80 was released? don't expect to see an equivalent to the 8800gt for about a year (maybe after a die shrink?)
