Ok here is a board I am interested in.

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/145668
Gigabyte GA-EP43-DS3L P43 Socket 775 8 channel audio ATX Motherboard

I will be getting PC2 800 mhz Ram, and an E8400.
I plan on overclocking so, the question I need you to answer, is whether this motherboard is a good overclocker?

If not can you suggest some alternatives for around the same price.
*note the price in pounds is near enough doubled to get dollars.
£69.01 ----> $140

You might consider p45. P43 don't overclock as well as p45, although still very good.

Current overclocking king (currently sold out due to popularity and hype):

You can't buy on newegg, but it's still a good place to look up user reviews and specs.

Ok heres what I have gone with.

Asus P5Q P45 Socket 775 8 Channel Audio ATX Motherboard
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/145750

I will be using a HD 4850 512MB Graphics Card as well as
4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 1066MHz RAM.
My CPU will be an E8400 Socket 775 (3.0GHz).

I am planning on overclocking the E8400, but no more than 4GHz. Am I right in assuming that 1066MHz RAM is better than 800MHz RAM for this overclock. My limited A level computing knowledge suggests that 800MHz would be a limiting factor when the FSB is more than 400MHz. Is This Right?

Yes, at 1:1 ratio, the ram will have to go above 800mhz for cpu to reach 4ghz. While the difference is small and most 800mhz ddr2 can oc to make it up, it's safer to just run underclocked 1066mhz ddr2.

I have the GIGABYTE DS3L with a E8400 and a cooler master hyper x2. I was easily able to overclock to 4 ghz but I set it to 3.6 ghz for everyday use. The temps run low and I have been extremely happy with both of these. I have adata 2 gb ram rated at 800mhz but when I overclocked to 4 ghz the ram went up to 888 mhz. It ran fine so you shouldn't have anything to worry about. Just set the ram at +0.2 overvolt and you should be good.
