Well I finally got my components and built my pc, everything was running fine until I rebooted my system after installing Windows updates (Vista home premium). While shutting down it seemed to be trying to install the updates for a long time. So; I shut down and basically it wont boot back up in safe mode, normal mode or last good startup.

Before I shut down I had installed;
53/54 Windows update (One had an error updating - Forgot which one)
Made GFX cards SLI
nVidia drivers (Motherboard and GFX cards) as well as audio setup.

Specs;
Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium
Intel Core 4 Quad Q6600 Processor
4096MB Corsair DDR II 667 Memory
500GB SATA II Seagate Ultra Fast Hard Disk
NEC 7200 Multi Format DVD/CD ReWriter
TWO nVidia 9600GT 512MB Graphics Cards
7.1 High Definition Surround Sound
Intel Deluxe Motherboard
Multi Format Memory Card Reader
DVD/CD ROM Drive
22" Widescreen VGA/HDMI Flat Panel Screen
Microsoft Wireless Multimedia Keyboard
Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse
Creative Inspire T6100 5.1 Speaker System
10/100/1000 Ethernet LAN

Any help would be awsome before I start fiddling - Thanks :D

Oh, and on startup mode the part it freezes on is: crcdisk.

Shutting down while installing updates is a serious NO NO.
It specificly states not to do that!

You could try doing a rollback. Not really sure about how Vista handles this.
Google knows the details.

If that doesn't work you'll have to figure out which files got "corrupted" by the reboot.
EDIT:

That's what happens when you interrupt updates of important system files.
Unless you know exactly which update failed you might as well reinstall the system.

It was installing them for over 5 hours, I left it when I went to go out got back past midnight and it was still going - It took less time to download the things lol.

Here I am with this headache and the one from last night.

Thanks for the feedback, Ive been looking around and apparently its something to do with the SATA drivers, and possibly a rename of a .sys file.
Ill look into it a little later, thanks for yout input :)

Do a reinstall and dont force a shutdown during updates next time. It takes a while to configure 54 updates.

Over 5 hours? Im sure somethings got to be wrong there though, it also failed to download 1 of the 54 for some reason.

I get the feeling its more of a compbatability problem than a software problem. Ive fold some possible solutions;

1) It's is not the crcdisk.sys, but the pcmcia.sys driver that is causing the problem. Disbale or remove.

2) Your SATA drivers are not properly decorated.

As you can tell Im not too computer literate, and well to be honest I just want to get down to it and get gaming :@ But I guess PC's cant be that simple :P

I seem to be finding some reasons for it, but not many solutions.

Install a few at a time so you can figure out which one is the problem and then do a restore and dont redownload the problematic one.

Let's see.
3-5 minutes per update average. 54 updates + a few with errors.
Yeah that could easily take 5 hours or more. It took XP SP2 about 45 minutes to install on some computers.
You shouldn't remove any files. Instead rename them to say "pcmcia.sys.bak".

Easier way dude. Go here.

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads [...] layLang=en

Should give you a link to the full Service pack 1 download, that is like 400+ mb download, but download that, and make a system restore point before you install it. Install that first without doing any other updates, when it installs then make another restore point, and put in any remaining updates 1 by 1. Hope it helps.

I found it was not Vista updates, but SLi/RAID driver updates.

I thought it was windows updates since it crashed configuring them, but turns out it was SLi/RAID having problems with the running of crcdisk.sys.

Thanks for the help; problem is known, but I cant run SLi on vista.
