Just upgraded from my opty 170 to an intel Q6600 and ddr800 ram , and all i can say is WOW ! what a difference . windows just feels so much more responsive . Pretty happy , cpu sitting on31 C and gpu (x1900xt) at 36 C .... both watercooled . running way cooler than the dual opty !

PS ...this is my first intel since i had my PIII 550 coppermine !

pssssstttttt! quiet! dont let the AMD fanboys catch you saying that :lol:

i went from my E6600 @ 3.2ghz to the quad and clocked it to 3.5ghz and saw a large gain in performance even there!

btw what opty did you come from? as in dual socket singles? or a dual core?

haha . i do feel like i have lost a brother ...........

heres to hoping for an AMD super comeback !

what are your settings for clocking your Q6600 , if you dont mind sharing ?

CPU - Q6600 G0, FSB 390(1560) x 9 -> 3510mhz, 1.4500v

Cooling - ThermalTake Big Typhoon modded and polished, grill removed and the ~22cm pannel fan supplying fresh cool air to it

Memory @ 1:1, DDR800/C5's (yet to tamper with the timings and speeds, could get an extra ~5% performance from it)

Case cooling total - 2x12cm case, ~22cm pannel, extra 8cm front, psu 12cm - everything runs cooler then my hand (~35ºc or less)

Also to give it a kick, 2x250gb Seagates in Raid0, and Kingston 2gb for ReadyBoost, 8gb page file - every little bit helps!
