Dell E510 CPU Upgrade

Hey, I want to upgrade my Dell's P4 3GHZ processor to a Core 2 Duo. I've got 2 problems, though;

1) Does Dell even allow you to do CPU upgrades? I've heard that for one reason or another you cannot due this on Dell computers.
2) If I could upgrade, would my poor old 305W power supply be able to run a C2D with any semblance of stability?

My Specs:

Pentium 4 Prescott 3.0Ghz, HT
nVIDIA GeForce 7600GT
2.5GB of DDR2 RAM; 2x256Mb sticks, 2x1Gb sticks
Everything else is standard for the Dell; PSU, motherboard, sound card (or lack thereof), etc.

Your motherboard won't support the C2D.

Oh, I thought that as long as the Socket was the same I'd be able to use it. Wikipedia tells me otherwise

I have a E510, too. Too bad you need to upgrade the mb before go to c2d.
