system configuration

hi

i am upgrading my system and hoping to get the q9450 with the gigabyte x38 ds4 motherboard. 2 gb memory (1066)
the q9450 is stillout of stock here, however eta is with the next 5 business days
i will be using my existing sata hard drive and video card.
any suggestions on the current config and or suggestion for going amd rather than intel.
i use it for video and image processing.

Two gigs of RAM would be minimual for intensive video editing with software like Pinnacle. My q9450 and e8400 are run by Vista 64. Q9450 uses 8 gigs 1066Mhz RAM and e8400 4 Gigs 800MHz.

thanks badge, good suggestion i was thinking between 2 and 4 gb. later i can add another 4gb
i will be running vista 64.
i am located at sydney australia, q9450 is out of stock here at present, eta this weekend.
what motherboard do you have for your q9450?

2 x 2GB kit will work well with Vista 64. I just built a P35 machine and used 2 x 1 GB with Vista 64. Used it for a couple of days like that. Added another 2 x 1Gb for a total of 4 GB and noticed a huge difference. Vista 64 experience rating regarding RAM went from 5.1 to 5.5. I use 8 gigs currently with Vista 64/X38/q9450. Four gigs is enough for most tasks I do.
