Hi!

I just bought a Sony 60" HDTV - 60WF655 on sale from a local dealer for
$2500. The dealer told me that Sony provides only 90 days parts and
labor. He made me purchase 3 year warranty for $249. Upon checking Sony
website, the warranty provided by Sony is 1 Year/2 Years for Tube. Now
I am wondering whether I should cancel my warranty (I can do that
within 30 days) or keep it. Any help is appreciated.

If the dealer lied to sell you the extended warranty, I'd cancel on general
principle. And I'd let Sony know about it.

I can't speak about Sony from experience but I had a Hitachi rear projection for
9 years and the only service problem I had occurred after 6 years. Cost me $250
parts and labor. I've had a Toshiba rear projection HDTV for 4 years with no
problems. Unless abused, electronics that make it thru the first 90 days
usually last long past any extended warranty coverage. Biggest dangers are
excess heat and power fluctuations.
