greetings friends!! :)

well as i was surfing trough the net. i stumbled upon this forum.i have also seen some other pc forums but i think this is the best.

btw i have two small problems.
**********PROBLEM 1******************************

well i have a 512mb ddr2 xfx 8500gt card.(i am a casual gamer likes to game at resolution upto 1024x768 or 800x600 not more than that.)

and i know this card is not that good.
(actually i wanted an 256mb ddr3 8600gt.but ended up in this.well thats another story.)

here is the link to my card please observe the details there.
http://www.playtech.co.nz/product.php?action=showdetail...
now another sad thing i did was that i bought a turbocache model.

now on that link it says memory:512mb (supports turbocache upto 512mb)

1.>>now what does that mean.??
(i have seen 256mb supporting upto 512 mb type models but not like the above)
(on my card's carton ' with turbocache technology 'is also mentioned)

2.how can i find out if the card is using turbocache (or shared memory) or not.from the system.
************PROBLEM 2*******************************

CHECK THIS LINK ALSO. WELL THE PICTURE OF THE GFX CARD THERE DOES NOT MATCHES WITH THAT OF MINE.

BUT THE MODEL NO. DOES!!

http://www.mwave.com.au/newAU/mwaveAU/productdetail.asp...

BTW THERE ON THE LEFT HAND SPECIFICATIONS LIST IT SAYS MULTI GPU SUPPORT: SLI.

NOW LOOK AT THE BOTTOM SPECIFICATIONS IT SAYS IT DOES NOT SUPPORT SLI.

NOW WHAT DOES THAT MEAN??

hope you will help me to clear my queries.

please do reply.

thanks.

According to that your card has 512mb onboard and does not share system RAM, unlike mine. And I wouldn't bother SLI'ing that card if I were you as it really isn't a gaming card.

True that. That is not a gaming card. And TurboCached SLI ? God, that doesnt sound right.
And wouldnt work because of memory........your GPU makes my head hurt.

Turbo Cache means you have some "native" ram, but the rest he fetches to the PC RAM. Up to 512 mb total.
About the SLI thingy, well, you got my opinion and more posters opinion.
