am running a nursey school and am placing a computer for the kids about 50 feet away from a FIOS router appear to be having connection problems sometimes between the router and a G adapter--theare 3 electric wall heaters in that room and 6 Floresent lights--only on 2x4 wall
Try to keep router and computer away from other electrical 'radiators' such as fluorescents.
The heaters may simply be warming up the wireless router -- these already run pretty warm in my experience and can play up through overheating.
It might be worth experimenting with different wireless channels -- the different frequencies these represent work better or worse in different spaces.
Also raise the wireless router above furniture level so that it is less likely to be affected by human bodies -- water (of which we are largely made) absorbs wireless.
