I7-920, asus p6t deluxe, 6 gig tri channel ocz plztinum 1333

AI tweaker in manual mode, bclk set to 167, dram mhz set to 1339mhz, everything else in auto.
This is my first try at oc, I ran the test for about 20 mintes, no errors, no lock ups, but that cpu temp at 75c scares me, Is that to high? Will any real world program every stress and heat the cpu up like that? after playing left 4 dead for about 1 hour all settings on max real temp showed a cpu temp of 61c
does the oc look ok? and the prime test/temps?

Yeah 75C is too high, at least at that setting. You shouldn't have that temp, and it might get near there is you were actually running a game coded for quad cores... check the stickies at the top for max core temps on an i7, should be there.

I was thinking I would need an aftermarket cpu cooler, when I look on new egg, there is only 3 coolers for lga 1366 socket and one is out of stock, I read somewhere in toms hardware about the artic cooler did a Very nice job bought it doesn't show its for the 1366 socket, just looking for better cooling with a huge price tag, I wont be oc'n this rig higher then what Im at now

btw I was reading other posts in here about I7-920 temps and they say Intel max temp spec for I7-920 is 100deg c . All that replied in that post sid 100c is to much even tho Intel says its ok, but they also agreed that 70-80c is fine as long as you dont exceed 80c it will be ok, I can dig that post up again and post it in here if someone wants to read it.

Major I do enjoy the ease of use the push pins offer, that is one of the reasons I was hoping to use the arctic cooler, it has push pins just like the stock intel cooler, the artic cooler does not say it supports the lga 1366 chipset, It would be SO nice to just remove the stock cooler and slap on the artic cooler using the push pins If they were to line up, maybe Ill try to talk with a tech guy at arctic cooler.

YES that is the one I was looking at, I assume would have to screw that plate to my mobo and then the artic push pins will snap into that adpt plate. I wonder I I will have to remove my mobo to install that adpt plate, I use the coolermaster nv690 case, It does have a hole in the back side but I dont think the I7 mobo/cpu lines up with it very well

Tx for all your help
