A little background:
I just bought a zalman 9700 and installed it last night on my Q9650. I went from 68,67,62,62 (each core accordingly) prime 95 temperatures to 48,47,42,42 temperatures. I toned downed the fan speed because at max speed it was just too loud even compared to my antec 1200 case fans on medium.

My Question:
Are these good temperatures to start working up on my overclock? Should I wait for the artic silver to break in more before raising my fsb to 400? Anyone else overclocking a 9650 and notice large core temperature differences like this?

Have you read comps temperature sticky ? Even if we use 48 as your max temp now, thats a descent temperature to work with - I'd say you're good to go.

Thermal grease should cure relatively quickly at those temps, too, so i wouldn't consider the fact.

Yea I was reading your guide about how ~65 when overclocked is still a safe temperature and to try to keep it under that.
